Photography Masterclass Magazine is a magazine designed exclusively for the iPad Newsstand, and their latest issue features my popular giraffe image on the cover, as well as two other images in the Capture Wildlife Masterclass.
The giraffe image was shot on our Wildlife Boot Camp in Spain. This year's workshop is fully booked, but there are still openings for 2014.

Wildlife workshop Spain a big succes
Our wildlife workshop in Spain is getting more and more popular as the perfect trip for beginning wildlife photographers who are eager to bring their photography to the next level. Each morning we started early so that Marsel could review the previous days' images, before heading out to the park for a full day of shooting. The weather was particularly good this year with lots of bright overcast days. Even the animals were cooperating, with the bears and the lynxes giving us excellent photo opportunities. At the end of the trip everyone was tired but the laptops filled with great pictures more than made up for that!

Osos, leones, lynces (Wildlife Workshop Spain)
Which is Spanish for bear, lion and lynx, but you knew that of course. ;) These are only three of over a hundred different animal species from five continents that live in the park we just visited. Despite the predictions, we were very lucky with the weather and got to spend a lot of time with the animals.
Each day we started with image reviews of previous day's results, and after breakfast we drove to the park where we stayed until after sunset. Favorite species were definitely the bears and the lynx, who were very cooperative and never disappointed. We were especially lucky to see two newborn bovines, minutes after they were born; a gaur calf and a watusi calf. The gaur is a large, dark-coated bovine animal from Asia. The biggest populations are found today in India. The gaur is the largest species of wild cattle, bigger than the Cape buffalo, water buffalo. The watusi are a breed of cattle originally native to Africa. They have very large, distinctive horns that makes them very photogenic. We also got to practice our birds in flight technique with some spectacular birds of prey.
We had a really good time and were very happy to see the amazing progress everyone made during this workshop - we hope to show some of the best images shot by the particpants on this blog soon!

New photo trip: Spain Wildlife Workshop
New Photo Trip, October 2009 - If you want to improve your wildlife photography and camera skills, this exciting workshop in beautiful Spain is just the thing you're looking for! We will take you to the largest zoological park in the world, where we’ll be able to photograph more than a hundred different animal species from the five continents.
The animals live in semi-wild conditions in large open areas made up of unusual limestone rock formations produced by erosion. Rusting iron minerals have painted the rocks in a wide variety of colours. This gives us the opportunity to photograph the animals with unique natural backgrounds. Expect in-the-field instructions, daily image reviews and watch your images improve during the course of this week.
